Magnetic Solutions for Zircon

Zircon is a common mineral belonging to the nesosilicates group, characterised by its lustrous appearance and diverse colour range. Zircon is used commonly used as a gemstone in jewellery, but beyond its ornamental uses it serves a pivot role in industrial applications. Within the ceramics industry it's used heavily for enhancing the quality and durability of ceramic products such as tiles, and is used in foundry sands and refractories due to its high heat resistance.

Zircon exhibits weak diamagnetic properties, meaning it is repelled by magnetic fields allowing it to be separated from the product stream.

Induced Roll Magnetic Separator

An Induced Roll Separator

The Induced Magnetic Roll Separator (IMR) employs an electromagnet to produce intense magnetic fields, facilitating the separation of weakly and paramagnetic minerals (such as mica and iron-coated silica) from non-metallic minerals (such as feldspar, silica sand, and zircon) in a dry state.
