Description

The quickTRON 03R Metal Detector automatically and continuously detects entrapped and free tramp ferrous, stainless-steel and non-ferrous metals. Designed specifically for gravity-fed applications, the quickTRON 03R is compact and easy to install in new and existing installations. The main aperture ranges from 30mm to 200mm (1 ¼” to 8”) to suit a wide range of applications and throughputs.
The housing controls are contained to eliminate any risk of interference. Integral brackets on the back of the housing enable easy installation.

Operation

Gravity-fed material falls into the infeed pipe of the Metal Detector housing the detection coil. When detecting a small and fine particle of either entrapped or free tramp metal, the control sends a signal to move the high-speed stainless-steel reject flap. The metal contamination, along with a small proportion of product, is rejected from the main product stream. The reject flap then returns to holding position to allow the flow of metal-free material. The reject time is adjusted to suit the installation.
The Metal Detector is supplied with an anti-static sensing tube. This prevents static build-up in and near the search coil avoiding false rejects due to static discharge.
The control allows product effect compensation to guarantee continuous detection sensitivity and trouble-free operation even with ‘difficult’ products. The quickTRON 03R control constantly self-monitors, assessing the air pressure and reject function to immediately identify any malfunction.

Applications

The quickTRON 03R Metal Detector provides vital protection of processing plant in both the plastics and recycling sectors. Commonly, the quickTRON 03R is mounted above plastic injection moulding machines or prior to and after granulators. This design of Metal Detector is often positioned after a FF Drawer Filter Magnet, which attracts and holds ferrous metal contamination. This combination reduces the amount of rejects on the Metal Detector and, thus, the amount of rejected good product.
