Metal Separation Test Centre at RWM

“Our stand is one of the first visitors to RWM will see and we want them to be involved in the show straight away,” explained Jonathan Millington, Master Magnets Marketing Manager. Visitors to RWM (12-13 September, 2018, NEC, Birmingham, UK) will be invited onto stand 5Q11 to place a lump of non-ferrous metal or stainless steel on the belt of the metal separator and witness the metal separation procedure.
“We will have an operating production-sized Eddy Current Separator and Stainless Steel Separator on the stand and, rather than just demonstrating the separation capabilities, we want visitors to try it for themselves,” said Jonathan.

“Stainless steel and PCB separation remains an issue for many recycling companies and the global interest in our HISC and SSSC Magnetic Separators has been incredible,” said Jonathan.
On the Stainless Steel Magnetic Separator, visitors will be able to separate several different materials. These include large lumps of fragmented stainless steel, from secondary metal recycling plants, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) from electronic recycling operations.

The Stainless Steel Magnetic Separator uses a patented high strength magnetic roll that generates enough attractive power to separate even the weakest magnetic materials. When passing through a shredder, the edges of stainless steel become weakly magnetic and this enables the effective metal separation. Also, PCBs have small components that are weakly magnetic and these are attracted by the strong magnetic field and separated from non-magnetic materials.

“Eddy Current Separators are a common feature at the RWM exhibition, but their capabilities vary significantly. We have focused on maximising recovery without compromising on purity levels. There is always a balancing act between the two, but it is all down to the design and strength of the magnetic rotor,” explained Jonathan.
The ability to produce the optimum separation of non-ferrous metals is dictated by the design of the high speed rotating magnetic rotor and visitors will be able to place non-ferrous metals on the separator and witness the dramatic and violent metal separation.

A small demonstration models will be on display on our stand.”
